Harry Darling says he will 鈥渟ee what happens鈥 over his Swansea City future after revealing there have been no talks yet over a new contract.
The centre-back鈥檚 current deal expires at the end of the season.
Darling has been a regular since joining Swansea from MK Dons in 2022 and has formed an impressive central defensive partnership with Ben Cabango in the early stages of 2024-25.
But as things stand, 25-year-old Darling will be a free agent next summer.
When asked about his contract situation, he said: 鈥淭here have been no talks yet but I鈥檝e loved my time here. We will see how that pans out."
He added: 鈥淢e and my girlfriend had our first baby here so Swansea is always going to be a special place for us.
鈥淚t鈥檚 something I don鈥檛 really get involved in. I focus on my football and I am sure that will take care of itself - I am football first and we will see what happens."
Swansea signed Darling for an undisclosed fee understood to have been in excess of 拢1m.
Russell Martin made the former Cambridge United player a target after taking charge at Swansea in 2021 having worked with him at MK Dons, and eventually got his man the following summer.
He is one of a number of Swansea players whose contracts expire at the end of this campaign, with Cabango, Liam Cullen, Joe Allen and Kyle Naughton among the others.
Darling was linked with a move to Championship rivals Bristol City before the transfer window closed last month.
鈥淭here was talk [of interest] and I can only take that as a compliment,鈥 Darling said.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 let it distract me. I am a Swansea player and I love the club.鈥
Darling has played a part in a decent start to the season for Swansea, who are 11th in the table after Saturday鈥檚 hard-fought victory over Norwich City.
Luke Williams鈥 side have conceded just three goals in their first five league games of the campaign, a record bettered only by leaders West Brom in the second tier.
鈥淚 think we can have a really good season,鈥 Darling said.
鈥淚 think we have played a lot of good teams at the start and there have been some ups and downs in our performances.
鈥淲e have a good young squad and a really good manager. We know how well we can play. We have just got to be more consistent at times, be brave.鈥
