Coventry City midfielder Josh Eccles has signed a new contract with the Championship club to run to the end of the 2027-28 season.

The 24-year-old has made 135 appearances for the Sky Blues since his debut in the EFL Trophy in November 2018 and has scored three goals.

He was a member of the team which won the League One title under former boss Mark Robins in 2020 and appeared as a substitute when they lost on penalties to Luton in the Championship play-off final two seasons ago.

"I've always gone by the motto that hard work always pays off and this contract proves to me that it does," said Eccles, who also spent the first half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Gillingham.

"I've been through some tough times, and you know it's never going to be easy, so to get through those tough times and have this good moment, I鈥檓 delighted - I can鈥檛 wait to get going again."

Managerless Coventry are back in action at Burnley on Tuesday evening as they look to improve their current 17th place in the table.
