Stevenage have signed striker Tyreece Simpson from Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

Simpson spent last season on loan at Northampton Town, scoring six goals in 44 appearances.

He joined Huddersfield from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2022, but did not start a league game for the West Yorkshire club.

Stevenage boss Alex Revell said the club had "worked hard" on getting a deal done for the 22-year old.

Huddersfield sporting director Mark Cartwright said: "This is a deal that suits everybody concerned, and allows Tyreece the opportunity to seek the first-team minutes he desires."

Stevenage finished ninth in League One in 2023-24, just five points outside the play-off places, and they will start the new season at home to Shrewsbury Town on 10 August.

The club has also confirmed that Aaron Pressley and Jake Forster-Caskey will miss the "first few months" of the campaign.

Forward Pressley has had an ankle operation and midfielder Forster-Caskey is still recovering from an injury suffered last autumn. Neither are expected to be available "until the autumn".

Stevenage had already confirmed that striker Jamie Reid will not be able to play until September because of a "swelling in his leg", but Taye Ashby-Hammond should be back in action before that following a finger injury.
