"Confidence is key for any forward - if you're confident then you start hitting things cleaner, you get in the right positions, it's nothing to do with training," he told 成人快手 Radio Manchester.
"It's just about feeling good in yourself and then you do the right things."
Having broken into the first team last season and scored three goals from 17 appearances in all competitions this term, N'Mai is dreaming big for his footballing future.
"Long term it's to get this club as high as possible," he added.
"If not the club then personal gain, get a move to the Premier League or Champions League and play for the Netherlands, that's the dream."
