Sheffield Wednesday defender Bambo Diaby has left the Championship side to join Spanish Segunda Division team Elche for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old joined the Owls last summer and made 36 appearances for the club in all competitions, helping them to avoid relegation.

Diaby has also played for Barnsley and Preston North End, following spells in Italy and Belgium.

He returns to Spain, where he started his football career as a youth player.
