Torquay United manager Paul Wotton praised how his side played in their 2-2 draw at home to Chelmsford City.
Cody Cooke had given the Gulls a fifth-minute lead as he reacted quickest to debutant Jordan Young's blocked shot.
Young, signed from Yeovil Town for an undisclosed fee earlier in the week, doubled the lead eight minutes later as he blasted in from 15 yards after a corner was not cleared.
But Jake Hyde headed one back for the Essex side after half an hour before Cameron James got an equaliser with seven minutes to go as he fired in the rebound after a save from James Hamon.
The draw keeps Torquay in fifth place in National League South, three points off leaders Eastbourne Borough with a game in hand.
"I thought the team played well today," Wotton told 成人快手 Radio Devon.
"We were 2-0 up, of course we should we should go on and win the game.
"It's disappointing, but I thought we played really well today, it's the best we've played for a long time."
