Fans injured in Netherlands after scaffolding collapses
Several people have been injured after scaffolding holding a banner collapsed on to fans prior to an FC Twente friendly away match.
The scaffolding fell as players from Eredivisie club FC Twente and amateur side Stevo walked on to the pitch in Geesteren.
Dutch state broadcaster said 10 people were injured, with two in a serious but non life-threatening condition.
The match was cancelled, with video footage showing players running across to the stand to help.
NOS report the banner was from Stevo's supporters' association.
"We are in close contact with the supporters who organized the atmospheric campaign, with Stevo and the authorities. Together we look at how this could have happened," Twente said on X.
"For now, full attention is focused on the supporters who were injured and others directly involved."
