Wrexham have signed former Manchester City and Celtic midfielder Josh Adam.

The Scotland Under-21 international joins the League One club following a trial.

Adam, 20, has signed a deal until the end of the season, with an option of a further year.

He said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 really exciting to get it over the line. I鈥檓 excited to get started and get going.鈥

A free agent following his release from the Premier League champions at the end of last season, Adam becomes the ninth new signing at the Racecourse following promotion back to the third-tier.

Manager Phil Parkinson said: 鈥淗e鈥檚 a talented young player and we look forward to working with him.鈥

Wrexham still have space in their EFL squad list for further signings, with wing-back Anthony Forde omitted following injury problems but with the possibility of being added should he prove his fitness.

Adam does not count towards the squad numbers because of his age.

Born in Glasgow, the attack-minded midfielder began his career at Celtic before switching to Manchester in 2020, featuring regularly in youth team success at the Etihad.

Adam had been training with Parkinson鈥檚 club in recent weeks in an attempt to earn a contract.

He added: 鈥淭hey have been tough sessions while I鈥檝e been here on trial 鈥 the gaffer鈥檚 had us working hard 鈥 but the boys have all been brilliant and I鈥檝e got to know a lot of them.

鈥淚鈥檇 say I鈥檓 a very technical player, I like to get on the ball a lot and make things happen. I鈥檝e had some of the best coaches and best team-mates at academy level, they鈥檝e helped me to grow a lot and it鈥檚 challenged me, and now the next step is to get into the men鈥檚 game.鈥
