Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell says the club will definitely sign at least one new striker this month.

But Caldwell says City will not overspend on a new forward as they look to increase their firepower.

Exeter have scored 18 goals in 26 League One games - the second lowest total in the division.

"It's not an enjoyable window, everyone's fighting for the same player, everyone's looking for the same thing," Caldwell told 成人快手 Radio Devon.

"Different players have come up in the last week that weren't available two weeks ago, so a striker or maybe more than one striker will come in the building this window."

Caldwell says Luton Town loanee Admiral Muskwe will return to St James Park once he recovers from the hamstring injury he suffered while playing for Zimbabwe against Rwanda in November.

As he was hurt on international duty, Muskwe's wages are being covered by Zimbabwe until he is fit again which is likely to be in the next couple of months.

It means Caldwell is still on the hunt for strikers to try and boost a forward line that has scored more than one goal just three times in League One all season.

"What we're looking for comes at a cost, and we have to make sure that not only do we get the right players and bring the right players in, but we make good financial decisions as a football club and don't bring in someone for the sake of it and overspend," the Exeter boss added.

"I always feel like January, whilst you can get many sales in the shops and you can get some bargains, you definitely don't get bargains in the football window.

"January is always a window where players are probably overpriced and there's not many bargains to be had."
