Newport hope to prevent Welsh rivals Wrexham doing a league double over them when the two sides meet at Rodney Parade on Saturday, 20 January

Seb Palmer-Houlden struck in the third minute of added time to give Newport County a dramatic victory at Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster's Joe Ironside had come close to a goal when his volley was pushed on to the bar by Nick Townsend.

Rovers debutant Billy Waters and Luke Molyneux were also denied by the Newport keeper.

On-loan Bristol City teenager Palmer-Houlden then fired in from Lewis Payne's cross.

Newport, who had a James Clarke effort ruled out for offside, climb to 17th in League Two, while Doncaster slip to 20th having won only once in eight fourth-tier games.

Newport manager Graham Coughlan:

"To be honest I didn't enjoy the game, I didn't think there was a lot of quality on show from either team.

"Nick pulled off two great saves in the first half. Clarkey was onside but he was adjudged to be offside.

"It looked like two tired teams, but we got the victory and we kept a clean sheet, which is very pleasing. We are building a nice little bit of momentum so hopefully we can keep it going.

"Like I said to the lads, you don't always have to play well in League Two to win, you just have to get the intensity levels right. We maybe got to grips with it in the second half."
