Carlisle manager Paul Simpson has seen his team lose 1-0 on eight occasions this season

Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson says that a raft of 1-0 defeats for his team is not simply down to bad luck.

The 1-0 loss to Bristol Rovers on Saturday was the sixth time Carlisle have been on the end of that scoreline in League One this season.

"It's a bit of an easy option to say we've been unlucky," he said. "That's not unlucky."

The Blues are 22nd in the league, three points adrift of safety.

Carlisle have won only three of their 17 league games since winning promotion from League Two.

They have lost four of their past five matches, all by a solitary goal, but Simpson says that they must quickly snap out of this bad run of form.

"We have to admit we're in a really difficult position," he told 成人快手 Radio Cumbria.

"If it carries on like this, we are in trouble.

"We need to do something about this and make sure we dig deep as a group - and the group is getting smaller every week - to try to find a way to get some results, so that in January, we can go and strengthen and have a right good go to get ourselves in a better position."
