Adam Campbell scored twice as Crawley Town ended a three-game winless streak in League Two by thumping in-form Newport County.

Campbell also claimed an assist as he teed up Nick Tsaroulla to beat Newport keeper Nick Townsend at the near post early on.

Exiles striker Omar Bogle quickly replied with a precise 20-yard finish.

But Campbell's second-half double and a long-range Ben Gladwin strike secured a deserved victory for Crawley.

Campbell's first goal came when Ronan Darcy's drive was parried by Townsend and he drilled in the rebound.

The summer signing from Gateshead then claimed his third goal for the club with a fine finish from just outside the box.

Gladwin rounded off a fine day for the home side when his low drive found the bottom corner.

Crawley jump to 10th in the table, while Newport drop from sixth to 13th after a first defeat in four League Two games.

Newport manager Graham Coughlan:

"The better team won, we didn't turn up. They were better than us all day. We made too many mistakes, we just weren't at it.

"They looked after the ball better than we did. We helped them along the way, let's be honest. We made basic errors and weren't ourselves. That's not my team, that's not us.

"[I spoke to the referee about] numerous decisions, about his overall performance, his disrespect and arrogance when he spoke to our players. I just thought he was a level below today. I didn't think it was his finest hour."
