Priestley Farquharson: Walsall sign Newport County defender on two-year deal

Priestley Farquharson played for a number of English non-league clubs before joining Connah's Quay Nomads
Walsall have signed Priestley Farquharson from fellow League Two club Newport County on a two-year contract.
Farquharson, who joined Newport from Cymru Premier side Connah's Quay Nomads for an undisclosed fee in January 2021, was offered a new deal by the Exiles.
But the 26-year-old said on social media he feels this is the right time to "seek a new challenge".
"I'm delighted to get Priestley. He's someone we worked hard to get over the line," said Walsall boss Mat Sadler.
"Priestley is a man mountain of a guy, he's extremely mobile, really quick and fits the demands of the division really well."
He becomes the Saddlers' third summer signing following the arrivals of Birmingham City midfielder Ryan Stirk and Stockport County defender Chris Hussey.
Walsall finished 16th in League Two last season, one place and two points behind Newport.
Farquharson made 38 appearances last term, having scored five times in 65 games across his two and a half years at Rodney Parade.
Newport announced last month that he was one of seven out-of-contract players in their squad who had been offered new deals.
The Exiles signed central defender Kyle Jameson earlier this week.
