Blyth Spartans 1-1 Wrexham: Late Blyth equaliser forces replay at Wrexham

Michael Richardson kept Blyth Spartans' FA Cup hopes alive with a late leveller against Wrexham to earn a replay.

National League North side Blyth had an early let-off when Sam Dalby hit the crossbar, but fell behind to Tom O'Connor's deflected free-kick.

But in the final moments of normal time Richardson equalised with his own free-kick through a crowd of players.

National League side Wrexham will host Tuesday's replay as the sides bid to reach the FA Cup first round proper.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said:

"We got ourselves ahead but to give away a cheap free-kick like we did in the swirling wind - a kind of wind-assisted goal - was disappointing, but we'll look forward to the replay on Tuesday.

"It was always going to be difficult today with the conditions and the tightness of the game. We battled well, we blocked things.

"We didn't show enough quality or care when we had the ball, but the conditions came into that a little bit."
