James Jones scored his third goal of the season to seal Wrexham's win

Wrexham produced an impressive performance to end promotion rivals Halifax Town's winning streak.

Early pressure from Wrexham led to Tyrrell Warren handling Callum McFadzean's shot and Paul Mullin's powerful penalty put the hosts ahead.

Ollie Palmer slotted home the second after Mullin's effort had been parried by keeper Sam Johnson.

James Jones sealed the win before Zak Dearnley pulled a goal back.

Halifax, who had won their previous five games, remain third but only a point ahead of fourth placed Wrexham.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said:

"Some of the football we played tonight I thought was really, really good and probably should have got more goals in the second half.

"I thought we ticked a lot of boxes and it was a good advert for the division with a great atmosphere - you can't ask much more than that.

"We never really felt under pressure. We know they're a good counter attacking team but I thought we dealt with that well."
