Kilmarnock moved to within a point of the Scottish Championship summit after a third-straight win at Partick Thistle.

After a goalless but exciting first half, Oli Shaw had a penalty saved early in the second period and blazed over from the rebound.

A minute later, the opener came as Richard Foster's clearance ricocheted off Kevin Holt into his own net.

And Shaw put his penalty miss behind him to unleash a beauty of a second.

The opening half was goalless, but fairly entertaining, with both keepers being called into action. Scott Tiffoney had an effort well gathered for the home side, while at other end Shaw's shot was bravely saved.

Thistle kept on grafting to find a way back into the game following Holt's own goal and Shaw's fine finish, but they found keeper Zach Hemming in good form.

Partick Thistle boss Ian McCall: "I thought Kilmarnock deserved to win, they made better chances. I don't think we created enough. We didn't handle the long ball over the top all game. Shaw's finish was terrific but it was a punt up the late, and we've got to deal with that better."

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright: "It's three points so we're happy. We're unbeaten away from home so we're really pleased. We said at half time we must start in the front foot in the second half and that's what we did."
