Wrexham stormed back into the National League play-off places as Jordan Davies' hat-trick fired them to a sensational 4-0 win at Halifax Town.

Halifax started the match in seventh place, three points clear of Wrexham, who had lost their past three games.

But the Dragons overtook their rivals as Davies' treble and Dior Angus' goal put them 4-0 up at half-time.

Halifax's Jack Earing hit the bar after the break but the home side never threatened Wrexham's lead.

Midfielder Davies' hat-trick quadrupled his goals tally for the season, having scored his first goal for his hometown club during last month's win over Bromley.

Wrexham are now seventh in the National League table, ahead of eighth-placed Halifax on goal difference after their thumping margin of victory.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates:

"We started very well... we were aggressive and played on the front foot and one or two things went our way tonight.

"People see a result and not the performance and performances have been not too bad. Three defeats on the bounce were something that hurt the group, but a lot of things have been said and fair play to the lads... they gave absolutely everything for this football club.

"[New signing Gold Omotayo] had a massive impact, he's a big, strong, physical lad and he gives us that platform that we have missed since Kwame [Thomas] got his injury."
