Kyle Lafferty scored a hat-trick as Kilmarnock beat Stenhousemuir comfortably to progress to the Scottish Cup fourth round.

The Northern Ireland striker netted his first from the penalty spot after Jonathan Tiffoney was judged to have pushed him.

Rory McKenzie teed up Lafferty's second before his third from close range was assisted by Chris Burke.

George Oakley replaced Lafferty and slotted past Paddy Martin late on.

It is Lafferty's third career hat-trick and he is now up to six goals since joining the Rugby Park side in February.

Oakley's strike - his first for Kilmarnock - came from some nice passing between him, Alan Power and Aaron Tshibola.

At one point Stenhousemuir thought they had a penalty when left-back Callum Yeats went down under a challenge from Kirk Broadfoot, but the Stenny player was booked.

Davie Irons' side's attacking threat was hampered by Mark McGuigan and Botti Biabi suffering knocks, the former in an aerial clash with Zech Medley, who also had to be withdrawn.

And Irons was sent to the stand in the second half following an unsuccessful Stenny penalty claim.

What did they say?

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright: "We dominated the game because of how quickly we moved the ball. If we provide Kyle with the service he'll score goals and I'm pleased for George as well.

"Zech Medley's a concern. He had suspected concussion and he's also getting an x-ray on his cheekbone."

Stenhousemuir manager Davie Irons: "I showed my frustration at a couple of decisions more than some people liked. I wasn't using any abusive language at all.

"Kilmarnock thoroughly deserved their victory. It's a big ask for us to be playing so many games at the moment."
