Daniel MacKay's superb finish gave Inverness Caley victory

Inverness Caledonian Thistle edged out 10-man Raith Rovers for a first victory in seven Scottish Championship matches.

Scott Allardice headed against the Raith bar before the hosts had Iain Davidson sent off in just 11 minutes for a heavy tackle on Nikolay Todorov.

Jamie MacDonald was at his best to thwart Inverness Caley before being beaten five minutes after the interval.

Daniel MacKay latched on to a long pass from goalkeeper Mark Ridgers and coolly chipped the advancing MacDonald.

Sean Welsh and Robbie Deas threatened a second, but Raith finished strongly and it took a took fine saves from Ridgers to deny Kyle Benedictus and Lewis Vaughan an equaliser.

Inverness Caley's first win under interim boss Neil McCann lifts them two places to sixth, three points clear of second-bottom Arbroath and three adrift of Dundee in fourth.

Raith miss the chance to move second and are two points ahead of Dundee after a third game without victory.
