Forest Green's Daniel Sweeney puts Newport's Brandon Cooper under pressure.

Jamille Matt's second half equaliser for Forest Green denied former side and League Two leaders Newport County.

Tristan Abrahams had given County the lead from the penalty spot in first half stoppage time after Joss Labadie was fouled.

But Matt, released by County in the summer, slotted home from close range following Matty Stevens' cross.

The draw means Newport's lead at the top is cut to one point while Forest Green remain fourth.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn said:

"We missed too many good chances. We had the best chances and the goal we conceded has gone through Brandon's [Cooper] legs so a little it unfortunate.

"I'm not one of these managers who say that it was down to our errors - they're a good team and play some good stuff.

"But we've got to be more ruthless. I've just spent my time talking about that because I'm getting sick and tired of it."
