Maidenhead United 0-1 Boreham Wood

  • Published

Kabongo Tshimanga was on the scoresheet again as promotion-chasing Boreham Wood defeated Maidenhead at York Road.

Tshimanga took his National League tally for the season to 18 with a first-half winner as the Wood, who have now only lost once in 19 league matches, moved up to fourth.

The 22-year-old striker was unable to make the most of a 16th-minute chance to put the visitors ahead but made no mistake six minutes later when he turned home a cross from Tyrone Marsh.

The Wood came close to doubling their lead midway through the second half when Marsh - looking for his 15th goal of the campaign - was denied by a good save from Taye Ashby-Hammond.

Visiting goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore then took centre-stage with fine stops to keep out efforts from Odysseus Alfa and Josh Kelly.

Ashmore was sent off in stoppage time after picking up a second yellow card, but it was too late for relegation-battling Maidenhead to avoid slumping to a fourth-successive defeat.
