Scunthorpe United 1-1 Sheffield United

  • Published

Play-off hopefuls Sheffield United salvaged their first point in three matches with a draw at Scunthorpe.

Neal Bishop headed Scunthorpe ahead against the run of play from close range, but Kieron Freeman fired the visitors level with an angled shot.

Blades keeper Iain Turner fumbled Gary McSheffrey's corner into his net, but referee Darren Handley ruled it out.

The point keeps Sheffield United in fifth, while Scunthorpe remain 17th, five points above the relegation zone.

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough told 成人快手 Radio Sheffield:

"It's a good point away from home. First half we played well, but to concede a goal by losing two headers was not very good, but I think they only had two chances all game.

"It's a good goal from Kieron [Freeman], one full-back has crossed it and the other one has put it in.

"We shouldn't have given the free-kick away for their goal, it was silly."

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told 成人快手 Radio Humberside:

"I'll take the point in the end, but I'm at a loss to know how we only got the one point because I thought we were the better team.

"I thought the first half was a nonentity. We've got our noses in front, there wasn't a lot of football played.

"They're a brilliant team but the atmosphere was brilliant inside the stadium."
