Richard O'Kelly has resigned as first-team coach at Bristol City, citing personal reasons.

O'Kelly left Walsall, where he held a similar role, in January to join Sean O'Driscoll's team.

The 56-year-old continued to live in the West Midlands and is believed to have struggled with the commute.

O'Kelly worked under City head coach O'Driscoll at Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers - and the duo achieved promotion with both clubs.

"The club is in a position now where, if the right decisions are made, it can only go one way," said the former Hereford boss.

"They are in good hands and I couldn't speak highly enough of the people I've worked with.

"I wish the club all the best in the future and am sure they will be successful."

It has also been confirmed that sports scientist Kunle Odetoyinbo and goalkeeping coach Nigel Spink will leave the club this summer.
