Alsop, Carson and Coles sign new Sussex contracts

Sussex batter Tom Alsop and all-rounders Jack Carson and James Coles have signed new three-year contracts with the club.

The fresh deals will keep the players at the 1st County Ground until at least 2027.

Alsop, 28, has hit 2,222 runs in first-class cricket since joining the club in 2022, initially on loan from Hampshire, at an average of 39.33.

The left-hander scored 337 runs in this year's T20 Blast, helping the team to a quarter-final spot.

Alsop has scored another 680 runs in List-A cricket for the Sharks.

"From the day I joined Sussex on loan it's felt like home," he told the club's

"As we've seen this year, the group we've got are starting to realise our potential and I can't wait to continue being a part of it."

Northern-Ireland born Carson, 23, made his Sussex debut in 2020 having come through the Sussex Cricket Pathway.

He has taken 121 wickets with his off-spin and scored 1,333 runs in List-A cricket for Sussex.

"It's a privilege to continue to represent the county which has become my adopted home," he said.

Fellow spin-bowling all-rounder Coles also rose through the ranks at Sussex.

The 20-year-old has taken 72 wickets and scored 2,570 runs across all formats for the club.

"I'm absolutely chuffed to have been given a new deal," he said.

"I can't wait to be a part of what is going to be a very exciting few years to come."

Sussex are top of County Championship Division Two and host Lancashire Lightning in the T20 Blast quarter-finals.
