Former Zimbabwe international Mark Dekker has been named Kent's interim head coach for the One-Day Cup.

The 54-year-old won 37 caps for his country across red and white-ball cricket and coaches Kent's Second XI.

He takes over from Matt Walker, who will resume his coaching role with defending champions Oval Invincibles in The Hundred.

Dekker previously worked as lead coach for Kent Women, guiding them to the Women's County Championship title in 2019.

"It's an honour for me to coach our one-day squad heading into our 50-over season," .

"I'm excited by the talent we have here, both with experienced players and some of our younger talent. This tournament is a great opportunity for our young squad to gain first-team experience and will benefit Kent Cricket immensely by continuing their development."

Kent begin their One-Day Cup campaign against Somerset at Taunton on Friday, 26 July.
