England's Tom Banton has signed a contract extension to remain at Somerset until the end of the 2026 season.

The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has spent his entire career at the club having made his debut in a T20 game in July 2017.

He has gone on to play 134 times across all formats, scoring more than 4,800 runs.

He made his England debut in a T20 game against New Zealand in 2019 and has played a total of 14 T20 internationals and six one-day internationals.

He has also played in T20 leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders.

"I love the club and this where I want to play my cricket," he told the club website.

"There鈥檚 a great atmosphere around the place and we鈥檙e regularly competing for silverware in all formats of the game.

鈥淲e鈥檝e got a great blend of experienced pros and exciting young players, and there鈥檚 genuine competition for places from one to 11."

Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry added: 鈥淭om is one of the most naturally gifted players in the game and he is also one of the hardest working.

"Everyone sees what he does on the field, but what people aren鈥檛 necessarily aware of is how dedicated he is to getting better every single time he walks through those gates.

鈥淗is dedication and passion for the club were demonstrated in the recent Championship fixture against Surrey, when he overcame the pain of a serious injury to take to the field and put the needs of the team ahead of his own fitness.

鈥淚t goes without saying that we are absolutely delighted to have secured the services of such a talented player. It鈥檚 a real statement of intent for Somerset County Cricket Club.鈥
