Ex-England opener Alex Hales has agreed a white-ball contract extension with Nottinghamshire for the 2024 season.

Hales has scored a club record 4,687 T20 runs for Notts Outlaws and helped them lift the trophy in 2017 and 2020.

He plays the format around the world and is the leading run-scorer for Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash competition.

"I'm particularly excited to see how we can kick on in 2024 with Joe Clarke as captain," Hales told the Notts website.

"He'll be a great leader and, with him, we will be well-placed to press our case again this year."

Hales, 35, is currently playing for Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League and hit 60 off 33 balls against Rangpur Riders on Tuesday.

"Alex is a player with an unrivalled T20 record for Notts and an immense pedigree in the game, and any side with him in it is stronger as a result," said head coach Peter Moores.

"He's got a wealth of experience that he can pass on to the rest of the group and he leads by example at the top of the order with the intent he displays.

"The greatest compliment I can pay him is that he's the player our younger lads want to be around and bat with, because of what he's achieved in the game and what they can learn from him."

Hales, who retired from international cricket last year, scored 328 runs in 15 games in last summer's T20 Blast.
