Northamptonshire wicketkeeper Lewis McManus will not play again this season because of a broken finger.

The 27-year-old, who agreed a four-year deal with the club last month, has had an operation to repair the damage.

He suffered the injury in their final One-Day Cup group game against Derbyshire on 23 August.

Meanwhile, pace bowlers Nathan Buck and Brandon Glover and batters Ben Curran and Charlie Thurston will be released by the club at the end of the season.

Buck, 31, joined Northants from Lancashire ahead of the 2017 season, but has decided to retire after taking more than 420 wickets in all forms of the game during his career.

Curran, 26, is the brother of Surrey and England pair Sam and Tom - he made more than 250 runs in this summer's T20 Blast, but has only played twice in the County Championship and once in the One-Day Cup.

Netherlands seamer Glover, 25, leaves after three years, while Thurston, 26, departs having not played a first-team match in 2022.

Northamptonshire start a Championship game against Surrey on Monday and are then away to Somerset next week before ending the season at home to Essex.
