'Special time' to be at Wrexham says Rathbone
Ollie Rathbone spoke of the 鈥渞eally special鈥 atmosphere at the Stok Racecourse after making his first league start for Wrexham.
A crowd of 13,341 鈥 Wrexham鈥檚 highest home attendance since 1980 鈥 saw Phil Parkinson鈥檚 side go top of the League One table with a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.
鈥淚鈥檝e played quite a lot of games at this level now and atmospheres like that don鈥檛 come along very often,鈥 Rathbone said.
鈥淚t鈥檚 why I came to the club 鈥 it鈥檚 a special time to be a part of it.鈥
Wrexham, playing in English football鈥檚 third tier for the first time in 19 years following promotion last season, are unbeaten after five games.
But midfielder Rathbone, a summer signing from Rotherham United, is not surprised by Wrexham鈥檚 start to the season.
鈥淚t can鈥檛 be underestimated how big a step up this is but with the squad of players I don鈥檛 think you can expect much less to be fair.
鈥淎fter five league games you have a taste of what the league offers in a lot of different ways and I think we鈥檝e handled everything really well.
鈥淲e won鈥檛 get ahead of ourselves but we鈥檝e played Bolton away, Peterborough away 鈥 two teams that have been in the play-offs the last couple of years 鈥 and I think we performed really well against both of them.
鈥淚n the home games we鈥檝e done just our job.鈥
