ID - s00754
Known info - Unidentified
Road, Parson Cross Estate
Linda It looks to me like Wordsworth Ave, approaching Ritz cinema.
I'm sure the Forty Foot pub was built where those trees are!
Ron i believe this is Elm Lane
Jack It's top of Linsey Ave near the park.
Michael This is Wordsworth Avenue just before the turn off that leads
to Parson Cross libary.
Jim I agree with Eileen. The building to the left of the tree,
on the right of the picture may be the Shiregreen hotel that has
just been knocked down.
Lisa Looks to me like Buchanan Road just before the crossroads with
Adlington.
Nog Could be Elm Lane, next to the Elim chapel and the entrance
to Lyndsey Avenue just visible beyond.
Bob Turnip This picture was taken on Shirecliffe Boulevard. I know it.
Steve - It's wordsworth ave near ritz.
nathan - My grandad says this picture is
wordsworth ave just near the mount tabour church.
Violet Smith - I think this could be Buchanan Road
Ken Turton - I moved onto the Person Cross estate in 1937.
I'm sure this is Wordsworth Avenue somewhere above the Ritz Picture
Palace.
Eric Denton - Could be Elm Lane
Eileen - I think this is the Ecclesfield end of Wooley Wood
bottom
plain talker - It looks like elm lane to me
David Fairest - I thought at first it was elm lane as it
used to be but the building to right hand side at the rear doesnt
ring true
Peter Sarson - Absolutley Wordsworth Ave near Mount Tabor
Church opposite Dor Royd Lane
Chris Deakin - Must be Wordsworth Ave
Carol Worthington - it looks like southy green road just
past longley park on the other side of the road.
russ - elm lane corner of longley park with southygreen road
see before council pull these down so of the houses are missing
but view spot on
Malcolm Pitts - I lived on Parson Cross from the age of 3
until mid 30s - I think that Ken Turton is correct. The houses at
left and centre are on Wordsworth Avenue, left hand side facing
Hillsborough, and the more distant house right of centre is on Southey
Green Road on the hill up to Southey Green.
donna - could be buchanan rd parsons cross,i was born at
no 195.
Andre - Ken Turton's nearly right - notice the end house
is up in air a bit. Try the junction 'tween Wordsworth Ave and Wordsworth
Crescent as you approach from Mount Tabour Church
Anne - With Mount Tabour church behind you (bottom of Southy
Hill), It's looking towards the junction of Wordsworth Crescent
and Wordsworth Avenue.
Dennis Hanna - Looks like Elm Lane.
Jack - russ is right it's elm lane corner of longley park
with southygreen road.
Phil Woodger - My Grandfather (Les Smallwood) lived in Masters
Rd. Could the top of the picture be the circle at the top of the
rd?
carole - i think it is wordsworth avenue between mount tabor
and ritz picture house.
tash - it's Totley Brook Road.
Jack - russ is right everyone else is wrong it is elm lane
corner of longley park.
Lucille - I believe it is Shirecliffe Road, the opposite side
of the road used to be the Atlas and Norfolk Sports Ground, it has
now been built on.
