Remembering the Miners Strike...The 1984/85 Miners Strike changed the lives of many in South Yorkshire. As the 25th anniversary of the strike approaches, the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ wants to hear your stories and memories. It's now seen as one of the most important events in recent history. Women march against pit closures Thousands of people from across South Yorkshire were involved in one way or another. 25 years on very few people in our region (and across Yorkshire and the UK) have jobs in coal mining, and the communities that supported its pits have had to find new roles. If you were involved in the strike, or if your life or family were affected by the events, we'd like you to share your stories and your memories. Some of you may not even have been born when the strike took place but you may still feel that what happened then has affected your life.
