Alison Moyet grew up in Billericay in Essex and was classmates with members of Depeche Mode and The Cure. She began performing in punk bands before becoming involved with the Canvey Island pub rock scene supporting bands including Dr Feelgood. As the decade ended she formed Yazoo with Vince Clarke. They recorded 'Goodbye 70s' which appeared on their debut album Upstairs at Eric's and it was a chance for Alison to look back on the decade that saw her establish her own musical identity. Here she picks two tracks that marked the decade for her.
