The Lights of Santa Cruz is the third in a trilogy of short films from producer Linda Searle. It was filmed entirely in the county and opened at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton. Films made in SomersetHot Fuzz (Wells, 2006) The Libertine (Wells, 2006) A Hard Day's Night (West Somerset Railway, 1965) Chocolat (Bruton, 2000) Emma (East Coker, 1995) In the film, Tom and Beth have spent two years lovingly restoring a boat they picked up at auction. Their dream is to run a charter boat company in the Canary Islands in Spain. But just as they are about to sail off into the sunset听 to follow their dream something happens to change the direction of their lives forever.
The stars of the show are Barbara Kellerman, who plays Beth opposite Christian Rodska as Tom. She made a name for herself starring in Sea Wolf alongside Roger Moore and went on to star in several Hammer House of Horror films. Christian is a regular on Channel 4 and has also appeared in The Bill, Casualty and Spooks among other TV series. The 25 minute film was directed by Anita Parry and set primarily in Watchett Harbour. It was filmed at Watchet harbour It was partly filmed on a boat that really did sail on the Bristol Channel. Viewers may also recognise glimpses of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. Producer Linda Searle said Somerset was an obvious choice for the world premiere because it was an entirely home grown production and the rest of the With Light Production crew come from the South West.

And this is the result of her labour. It is the final part of the trilogy, which began with Badgers at Midnight, followed by the Golden Man. Linda said it was a big change doing films and she wanted to ease herself into it by starting off with three short films.
