Directed by: Ram Gopal Varma
Cast: Amitabh, Abhishek & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar Raj is neither a sequel to Sarkar nor an adaptation of the Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather.
Amitabh Bachchan as Mr Nagare
The film simply depicts a chapter in the lives of the Nagare family, which forms the core of the movie Sarkar.
The film sees an aging Mr Nagare (Amitabh) taking a respite from his business empire whilst giving full responsibility to his son, Shankar, a character played by Abhishek Bachchan.
Into their lives enters Anita (Aishwarya), an aggressive and highly ambitious business woman from London whose main aim is to make money, even if it means sacrificing the lives of her workers.
In complete contrast to Anita's way of thinking, Shankar prefers to help his workers achieve a better standard of living, in the belief that they will in turn be loyal to him.听
So when Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai - Bachchan), the chief executive of Sheppard power plant, brings a business proposal to the Nagare family, a rather cautious Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) quickly realises the benefits this venture would bring to the people.

After convincing his father (Amitabh Bachchan), who is initially against this proposal, Shankar accompanies Anita on a journey to the villages to gain the support of the locals.
But things are not what they seem as they meet with obstacles on their way, with politics taking centre stage in this drama.
Sarkar Raj is one of the most keenly awaited films to release this year because it is Abhishek and Aishwarya's first film together since marrying.
The film is all set to release in UK cinemas this June 2008 by EROS International, based in London.
