Festival at the Edge

Festival at the Edge

It's the biggest storytelling festival in the country. It features newly commisioned major storytelling works and many of the best performers from Britain and abroad.

With a blend of storytelling and music, Festival at the Edge is the country's largest storytelling event and brings a weekend of family entertainment to the Shropshire countryside 17- 19 July. The theme of this year's festival is Original Sin.

Jan Blake

Story teller, Jan Blake

One of this year's new commissions is performed by Jan Blake with musicians Raymond and Kouane Sereba. Set in pre-colonial Africa, it tells the story of ' The Old Woman, the Buffalo and the Lion of Manding."

The other new commission is 'Of Gods and Men' in which Mike O'Connor speculates about what would happen if naturalist, Charles Darwin met William Penny Brookes, the father of the modern Olympic Games. The story is presented in music and prose.

Also on the bill this year are singer song writer, Harvey Andrews, poet, Les Barker and Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherd with their musical mix of punk and folk.

Pat French will be holding a pentatonic flute making workshop and participants will end up with a playable instrument.
