CSV - or Community Service Volunteers, to give them their full title - are a national charity which works with the 成人快手 to deliver social action broadcasting on local radio. What do we do?
| Genevieve Tudor |
At 成人快手 Radio Shropshire every day, we broadcast brief bulletins about the work of charities and community groups in Shropshire. This is to raise awareness of fund-raising events, and of opportunities to volunteer time or donate goods or talents. It's also a way of helping those who are already involved in community work to find others to help them. Meet the team... The Action Desk Producer, Genevieve Tudor, carries in her computer (and in her head!) a detailed working knowledge of what Shropshire charities and community groups are up to, what difficulties they face, and what they are trying to achieve.

With help from a fantastic army of CSV Media volunteers, the Action Desk is manned during office hours Monday to Friday, and voice messages can be left at any time. Through the bulletins, we put people who can help in touch with people who really need help. What have we achieved? Recent bulletin campaigns have included: Helping to find volunteers to work in a variety of charity shops... Tracking down practical help for a listener who wanted to organise charity bingo events in her village... Putting elderly people who lack their own transport in touch with a group who organise trips to famous gardens... Even letting local people know of the efforts of a local person to find volunteers to work in an orphanage in Sri Lanka.

We also get involved in distributing factsheets about issues as varied as how to manage your money, to how to stop your e-mail inbox being swamped with spam! How can I get involved? With over 2000 Action Desk bulletins going out in a year, we're never short of initiatives to publicise, such is the level of community activity in Shropshire! So, if you have time on your hands and would really like to get involved, or if you have a need for information or help, listen out for the daily Action Desk bulletins, which are broadcast several times throughout the day.
