Mmmmm ( MJC ) Very Tasty

Now we have resisted to eat any of our animals up until now, but when needs must I guess you have to be heartless and forget all your morals and take the plunge, We have a few ducks and when they were purchased we were hoping for more females than males but alas the males outnumbered them.
The mad axeman of the house decided that it was time we gave the female ducks a chance and the householders a free meal.
So off to the byre with said duck tucked under his wing. a few moments later out he comes with a dead duck. I hung it up and plucked out all the lovely white feathers and down then it was taken to a neighbour for a lesson in disecting and getting ready for the oven.
After preparing and plucking we tucked into a lovely meal of Roast Duck.

oo-oohh, that's really just on the edge for me ... and colour pictures too ... I admire your utilitarianism, and your ... well ... honesty I suppose ... But that's not a thing I could do myself ...!!

Wonderful, just wonderful. Five am here (!!) and it is rather rare that I am so hungry at this hour - but your blog posting got my digestive juices on full alert. Are the Brussel Sprouts from your garden as well? # Of course, you had to find some rationalization for butchering a male specimen, but I must admit it looks good (you did a wonderful job cleaning it too), nice color and plump. # The plate of course flouts all the truth-in-advertising rules. # What am I doing, IB at 5 am? Just got off the phone with wife, in Washington DC this week: she is coming back today, thank heavens. Peanut butter jelly sandwich and boiled eggs (but I have wonderful lunches at the Indian or Mexican) are not exactly haute cuisine, but they are the better alternative to my cooking.

:-o *gasp* Oh Mummy, how could you? Displaying your 5* roast tatties, duck and yummy buttery swede on screen is ABSOLUTE torture I'll have you know!! Can't beat your Mam's cookin', that's for sure....just hoping there'll be a bit of the flock left to sample when us kiddies come to visit you next =D xx miss u xx

Very good. The sprouts look lovely and green, maybe a tad overcooked, but the rest looks good enough to eat. Is that turnip and carrot mixed? Or is it just turnip? It'll be a turnup for the books if I never ask questions. ( did you see what I did there Fc) Oh no I was hoping not to use any brackets( I was just so excited by your platter, and Scalloawife is back on-line, I think )

I thought the Brussel Sprouts looked very green and crunchy (c'mon TWS, wear your glasses! I finally found mine!!). As to the Daughter: If I get there first, I promise I shall see to it that at least a leg is left in the freezer for you (though there may not be any duckie on two legs left by the time I hit the ferry for Mainland).

Apologies for the plate, My best china is stored away ready for the opening of the new kitchen (whenever that might be ). It is just neep TWS no carrots included. Sorry Daughter I will save you a few morsels for when you and son come up. Just think those cute little ducklings you were holding last Sept.... Ahhhh :) ps hows the back lol:0)
