Barebraes, I hate to worry you, but did you know there's a hammer-wielding lunatic in an anorak on your nice new roof? Should me and Marmalade rush over in our catcoracle and truss him up before he does any damage?
Flying Cat from Consternation Corner
Would you do that for me FC. The hammer weilding lunatic sends his regards and mentioned something about cats, chainsaws and the 7.30 ferry. I hope your catcoracle doesnt spring a leek.

I must say that I am in awe of where you live and that it is so green. I have never seen a sky that is so beautiful.

Chainsaws eh? Hmmmmmm. Me and Marmalade have decided, on reflection, not to pop over just yet. The catcoracle is inexplicably out of action for the forseeable future. Did I forget to say what a NICE looking hammer-wielding lunatic it is? *gulp*
Flying Cat from having a little lie-down
Thankyou Andrea, The skies are ever changing here and always a delight to me, I have yet to see the northern lights yet perhaps one day !!
Barebraes from Shapinsay
I overheard a parental unit saying the best way to see the aurora borealis is to walk/stagger down the centreline of Sumbugger airport on a crisp January night, wee winter warmer in hand............ It's possible this is only of historic interest. Or, indeed, none!

I will look out for the lights FC, Thanks for the inside info

Barebraes, I thought FC was giving outside information? # Heavens above, after seeing the photo of Mr. Barebraes (the hammer looks puny in his hand!), I have decided that I shall think twice before arguing with him as to whose black pud it is on the table!! # Nice pictures. Don't seem to be able to get picture three of Signor Barebraes in action: is it just me?#

I had long thought (mistakenly, it turns out) that chainsaw encounters of the close kind were an American phenom!! Perhaps too much northern island air has unpredictable effects ...

Well mjc you came back for more!!! We have missed the comments, and are glad that you had a good trip. You too can have a physique like Mr B if you eat the amount of black pud as he does. He is not that big (it is a peedie hammer.)

Barebraes, tell us how you intend to celebrate the holiday season. Shopping till you drop in Kirkwall and Stromness, or are you going further to Aberdeen and even Edinburgh? What's Santa Claus bringing to you and Mr. Barebraes? A companion for Hooch (a Tibetan version?)?

Well the barebraes household will no doubt be just having a very quiet occassion , No pressies , Xmas Lunch and a few tipples and if the weather is fine maybe a walk with the mutt. No shopping in Aberdeen for us. We have got everything we want right here ..... Each Other ahhhhhhh (fetch me a bucket )

Anyone can get a rise out of Runestone? Hopefully she has not joined a monastic order (or we would soon be getting emails for tiramisu from monasticorder.com!) or, equally dire, suffering from ptsd. Runestone is neglecting her blogs ... (surely it can't be the housework that's taking all her time!!).
