The Rooster is a Black Rocket a hybrid orkney one and unless it keeps giving a few flying tackles then he'll stay off the Sunday Lunch menu. Tasty with the neeps though

Black Rocket indeed!! An Orkney hybrid, eh? Does he go up Ward Hill every morning to meet the dawn? I hear Blackie's roosters down in Westray used to do that: up and down Fitty Hill they would go until they got tough and wiry: then he served them with neeps on a Sunday.

I think the rooster is confused and thinks that excersise consists of rounding up his hennies and sleeping in till lunchtime. Obviously has a few late nights like any good orcadian.

Only one of these pictures is worthy of praise - obviously, the handsome pussycat, Billy. I sincerely hope he has not got an adversary called Tim, otherwise the Battle of the Boyne may break out all over again. If only the neds could forget 1690!
Two is a grossly ugly D.O.G., unworthy of mention, so I won't; the others are potential dinners. Mmmmmmm......roast chook!

The Dog resembling its owner Eh! Well I dribble when Im asleep and snore like the dog so I think you are right. And forgive the lack of poultry , Its our first year raising the wee little ones and we (like the chicken ) needs more practice

Good grief Barebraes: I had another look at the pictures, and noted that in fact you only have one chick (not two) and one duckling. Is Shapinsay part of the People's Republic of China? At that rate the Shapinsay Black Rockets will become endangered. Mama duck is a Shapinsay original as well? Looks tame and gentle. And your cattle looks in fine fettle, with more on the bones than the specimens photographed by Backie in Westray (but then he photographed some worn out heavy milk producers rather than meat on the hoof). Do you have to take the animal to Kirkwall to be butchered and dressed?

Alas the duckling is no more he went to the great pond in the sky ( or thats where I think the rat took him) The Bull is a neighbour and doesnt look too good in a dress!!!!

I forgive you Flying Cat (licking my lips) just dont stray into my back yard. I have enough to contend with as there are 3 other feline creatures that rule this roost.
