Living on Ward Hill

Hi, I hope that you look at the pictures on this blog and appreciate that Shapinsay to me was unheard of over a year ago. But now I am living here and to be honest I couldnt think of a better place to be. Not only the people and the wildlife but the peace and quiet and the changing weather that brings so many changes in mood and atmosphere. We arrived in September and are now nearly a year on. The first day I arrived I didnt know what to expect having not visited this particular island let alone seen the house that we had bought. I wasnt dissapointed and a year further on I still think that Paul made the right decision to settle here. Please enjoy some of our pictures and I hope one day that you to can visit Shapinsay and also see why we like it so much

Is there a Ward Hill in Shapinsay? Thought it was in Hoy. Never mind - technical hint: you need to place the codes (<img src) for the pics between the <gallery> and </gallery> tags for a gallery to form.

Yes we have a Ward Hill on Shapinsay it is 64 metres high and on a clear day you can see all round the headland. The dog is a french mastiff and he weighs 10 stone and just loves the beaches of Shapinsay

that dog and I are the same weight - is that good for me or the dog? does he struggle to keep his figure (?) or does he eat lots of chocolate?

Hmmm, either you've managed to find a particularly un-flat part of Shapinsay in picture 6 or the locals have been plying you with alcohol again. Luvverly display of pictures all the same mum (although I am rather biased). xx

Well scallowawife I dont think that the dog worries about his figure , I wouldnt mention it to him, would you? And to the lovely daughter in sunny southend her mummy says hi and that she loves her heaps xx

I envy you. I would love to move to one of the islands but it's a hugh move isn't it? What is your population there.aww love the animals, I've got loads too

Carol, ....the population on shapinsay is about 130 families plenty of space for the animals. The move was worth it

I would have thought that good reading for a cat would be 1000 things to do with a fish recipe book or how to get unstuck from a tree ?you are obviously a refined cat.

Fish recipe books hold no charm for me, BB, for all my fishy food comes out of tins which some factory slave has already prepared, which are then placed in my current lurking-place by my house slaves, prior to opening. As for being refined, I,m somewhere at the sewing machine end from crude!
