Good to know you had a good time, with the boys treating you (eh?) to meals and sundry. Shopping: you should have taken Backie from Westray with you. He loves shopping and I hear he had/has been waging a one man war to declare Stromness open for business Sunday as well. Come to think of it: Backie has not posted for ages. He did not go back to mainland Scotland, I hope. Maybe Annie Beag and Backie disappeared together (Espana?)? Seriously: would love to hear from them, and know they are in good health. Scallowawife: do you know how to make a scrumptious Tiramisu? And, by the way, how come you did not visit Ikea this time?
mjc from NM,USA
tiramasu - mmmm... look up a recipe book... Ikea - no room in my holdalls for any more things. do you know you can't even take lipstick on a flight with you? or wet ones. or water. fortunately I knew all of this in advance. I spent so much in Per Una shares have rocketed this week...Halloween is big in Glasgow. its going to be big in our house too this year. we have cobwebs everywhere - time for a spot of stoorsookin I think... oh yes, what's Ruthodanort up to this holiday? mjc - is Backie no a female?
scallowawife from shetland
Welcome back you have been missed scallowawife, mjc has been hankering for a good recipe. Me thinks that he too needs a romantic meal for two with tiramisu and candles like runestone on Sanday. Having had the pleasure of my children visiting here I too echo your sentiments regarding keeping in touch. A Hello mum goes down well from time to time
Barebraes from Shapinsay
Funny, I always assumed Backie was a male. Really did not have time to check, not with Backie rushing past at warp speed holding on to his camera, with irate farmer in hot pursuit...

Tee hee. Reminds me of an incident at pizza hut involving a sink, the girls bathroom and sister No.1 but they were very nice about that. mjc, this link should take you to a really good tiramisu recipe: http://www.channel4.com/life/microsites/C/come_dine/4john.html Although, I would halve the quantities as it is a bit big.
bethodanort (ruth's lass) from shetland
Thanks Bethodanort. I'll check the site and try to pluck courage to try the tiramisu recipe. # Hope the weather in Unst is not as bad as in Orkney. Hope the weather is not as bad at the end of the year for the Ba, or it would end up being a swim rather than a scrum. # Are you celebrating Halloween?
mjc from NM,USA
well, BodN, thats some recipe, and will keep 4 folk tasting and sampling for weeks - or will make 4 people very sick in a short time... may try it next time I get visitors fae da Nort
scallowawife from in the queue for weight watchers...
Oh prey do tell us the saga of pizza hut bethodanort. You have us all in suspenders now. I must admit it is difficult to tell the sexes of some blog participants, Is FC a Tom or a Queen?
Barebraes from Shapinsay
Have thoroughly researched Backie's blogs and am not sure if he or she is a he or a she. Backie - do you have anything to say on the matter?
scallowawife from shetland
Scallowawife, I'm on my way home once more after a spot o stoorsookin o my own. Honestly, the vacuum cleaners in these norsky hooses are amazin, just a long long hose connected to the wall. See dee soon.
ruthodanort from Aberdeen Airport
bb, I think FC is an ex-Tom and, rather like myself, a teenie bit sensitive about it, seeing as how neither of us was asked to pawprint a consent form at the v.e.t.'s.
Flying Cat from looking concerned
Re Pizza Hut Loo seat. Bottom Marks? Was that a pun?
Herman from Not in Orkney
Ruthodanort - you thought that was a vaccuum cleaner .... are you sure? might have been anything... did you read the instructions? what room was it in? And I don't believe you did any hoovering... Herman - you're back! have you seen Muness? He's been quiet...
scallowawife from shetland
did actually try the hoover in the norsky hoose, cos I was fascinated by it. The only time I've seen one like it was on Tomorrow's World years ago. But stoorsookin...... well, that's anidder story.
Ruthodanort from Unst once more
And one I am sure is worthy of the telling. Don't keep the islandblogging community in suspenders!
Flying Cat from all agog a-go-go
sorry FC, stoorsookin is not be for the fainthearted. cant possibly go into detail on a BEEB site. now if this was a Channel 4 weblog, well..................
Ruthodanort from Unst
How long was the hose in the Norski hoose? Was it attached to the wall? Is it portable?
Herman from Broadband land
ooooohhhhh. very long. the wall, well depends really. and yes but not as often as I'd like. nuf said.
