Okay - did anyone else notice in the OT today, the similarities between the Scalpay news and the Kyle of Lochalsh news.

Is it a case of "Imitation is the highest form of flattery"?

Okay, I admit it - I am assuredly NOT from Scotland. But I'm fascinated beyond words by the fact that I don't know what you're talking about - or, that I'm immersed in an agency in glitzy supra-urban Los Angeles and you're over there, possibly experiencing glitz (and possibly working at an ad agency), but I get the feeling that's not the case.

Anyway, I once took a week-long trip through Scotland, and I will never forget the graciousness of the people or the raw beauty of your country. We in L.A. constantly bemoan the fact that we don't have history or culture, and even though I'm a firm believer that we do, in fact, have both in spades, there's really no comparing a 100+-year-old culture to one that's...well, much older. And that's what I loved about Scotland, particularly Edinburgh, where I spent a lot of time: walking streets and touching buildings and seeing things that are steeped in the ages.

I also thought Scottish women were the finest in the world. Can't say for sure, but I guess I still think so.

Have a happy Robert Burns celebration...peace.
