WORRICKER All this week we are featuring a poem read by John Killick. For over a decade he's been the writer in residence in nursing homes for people living with dementia. And during this time he's been fashioning poems directly from their speech. With the permission of the individuals whose words have been used John has now published three volumes of poetry and the latest is Dementia Diary. Today he reads Romance. KILLICK I fell in love all on me own And he fell with me I didn't believe him He wouldn't tell me his name He says: "I'll come and I'll see you settled down." And now he's sleeping with me But they've found out There's a shelf above the wardrobe where I keep his pyjamas Oh I'm alright with him In fact he's just my type The other night I put his pyjamas in a drawer I was asleep when he came in He didn't know what to do "Well why didn't you climb in naked?" I asked him after Don't ask me where he works Making bodies - car engines - you know? First time I've slept with anybody since me husband died He makes me happy Not right happy but happy enough Well you know what fellows are like though WORRICKER John Killick reading Romance.
