If you live in England or Scotland, this year鈥檚 council tax bills probably won鈥檛 be too different to what you鈥檙e paying now. The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy says today that this year鈥檚 increases are the lowest on record since the tax was introduced back in 1993. And another report from the Local Government Association agrees. So, should we be celebrating? Or perhaps wondering just how the sums add up? Only yesterday Birmingham City Council faced protests by workers outside its budget meeting over threats to 2000 jobs. And it鈥檚 not the only council that鈥檚 making big cuts.
