We’ve been tracking websites making money out of essentially free services for years. The latest government service to be targeted is the child benefit application form. Searches for child benefit on the internet bring up a number websites – one is the official Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs website allowing you to fill in the form for free, another is hosted by Digital Select, which will charge you £11.69 to fill in the same form. Can anything be done about such sites?
