The offside rule
Football is on many levels a straightforward game:听11 men, one ball, and one goal to get the ball into. But that doesn't take into account the mysterious offside rule - a puzzle to anyone who isn't a dedicated follower of footie.
To keep it simple:听player on Team A boots ball towards goal belonging to Team B. But... and this is the important bit... as Player A boots the ball up the pitch there has to be at least two of Team B's players between their goal and anyone on Team A.听 Simple?
