Liquorice has been used for all kinds of medicinal purposes, and pregnant women in particular find听it settles the stomach.听听Until the 1970s it was grown in fields in the Yorkshire town of Pontefract and there's still a sweet factory in the town today.听听
A 听book has just been published tracing the history of the healing root and Clare Jenkins has been sharing out her sweeties and sampling some liquorice bread. 听
