Pauline Boty 2听July 2004
Image: Pauline Boty, The Only Blonde in the World (1963), Oil on canvas, Tate. Purchased 1999 漏 Whitford Fine Art
The forgotten artist from the Sixties scene

Pauline Boty is little known outside the art world these days but in the early sixties she was rubbing shoulders with the likes of David Hockney and Peter Blake in the glamorous London pop art scene.

She died in 1966 at the age of just 28, and her work was stashed away in a barn by her family and largely forgotten.

Now she's one of a handful of women artists being celebrated in a new exhibition of Sixties art at the Tate. Martha听looks into the art and life of the woman dubbed "The Wimbledon Bardot".

Art and the 60s: This Was Tomorrow, Tate Britain, Level 2 Exhibition Galleries, 30 June until 26 September 2004听
