Women use consumer power to stop internet pornographers
Joanna McMinn is the Director of the National Women's Council of Ireland. She threatened a boycott by her 300,000 members of one of the big Irish banks if they didn't back out of a deal to finance the purchase of an adult pornography empire.To her surprise the bank listened and withdrew from the deal.
Now听Joanna says that women should use their consumer power to influence the approach credit card companies take with internet pornographers.
Margaret Prosser from the National Women's Commission, Sandra Quinn from APACS (Association for Payment Clearing Services)听and John Carr from NCH Action for Children听join Jenni to discuss whether enough is being done by the UK banks to stop their cards being used to pay for images of child abuse on the internet and听how听British women's consumer power听could influence their approach.
