The cellist whoÌýenthralled the nation with herÌýnightingale duet
She was the woman who captured the imagination of Elgar with her peerless cello interpretations and enthralled the entire nation with rather an unusual kind of duet – one not performed with other musicians but with a nightingale. We find out tomorrow why she persuaded the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in 1924 to do the first live broadcast of birdsong from her garden.
